Where I work: it’s a madhouse

synapsesFollowing on from the LinkedIn INfluencer posts today I thought it would be interesting for the authors of Successful Workplace to share exactly the same, after all it’s not exclusive. So here goes;

The nature of what I do, between consulting, advising and writing, means I can basically throw a hat and where it lands is where it takes me. I thought about posting with this various pictures of places and buildings I’ve been in and chased out from, desks I’ve frequented, beanbags and not-so-comfy leather chairs I’ve sat in over the years but in truth they’re not actually where I work.

You see, the more I thought about it the more I realized that in my thoughts are where I work and work best.

That’s not to say that I sit for hours, alone, contemplating and procrastinating on the wonders of the universe, far from it, but what it does say is that location to me doesn’t matter. I work when those tiny synapses fire that see and create patterns from randomness, where a thousand thoughts collide at once and form an idea, thread connections from tenuous links and solutions from abstract problems that matter most to me. I can draw inspiration from any place and anyone and share that back to get something done.

I have an open door policy so welcome to my office. It’s unstructured, it’s chaotic, it’s alive, it’s fun. Dive in.

And you don’t need to be crazy to work here but it helps 😉
